This was the inaugural running of what is hoped to be an annual event in the future. Although not the Australian Championships which are held in November, it was nevertheless an important event for Australian drivers. What made the meeting even more significant was the fact that the current World Champion Surikarn Chaidajsuriya would be competing in the Touring Car Modified class, Nitro Tourer and Mini.
